
Ernest Hemingway

Né à Oak Park, Illinois, le 21 juillet 1899, Ernest Hemingway s'installe à Paris dans les années vingt, fréquente Gertrude Stein, Fitzgerald et Pound, et forge une prose dépouillée qui renouvelle le roman américain. Correspondant de guerre en Espagne puis en Europe, Prix Pulitzer en 1953 pour Le Vieil Homme et la Mer et Prix Nobel l'année suivante, il se suicide à Ketchum, Idaho, le 2 juillet 1961, laissant inachevé Paris est une fête, que sa quatrième épouse publiera à titre posthume.
