André Breton
Né à Tinchebray le 19 février 1896, André Breton rompt avec Dada au début des années 1920 pour fonder le surréalisme, dont il publie le premier Manifeste en octobre 1924 ; un texte qui devait n'être qu'une préface à Poisson soluble et devient la pierre angulaire d'un mouvement. Poète, théoricien et agitateur infatigable, il n'eut de cesse d'élargir le champ de la révolte contre Staline dès les procès de Moscou, contre la bombe atomique en 1958, contre les faussaires de Rimbaud comme contre les conformismes de toute espèce. Il s'éteint à Paris le 28 septembre 1966.
