Deux Poëmes d’été

Paris, Editions de la Nouvelle Revue Française, (May 10) 1914.
1 vol. (165 x 215 mm) of 205 p. and [3] f. Half chamois morocco with corners, spine ribbed and decorated, top edge gilt, original wrappers and spine preserved, matching edged slipcase (binding signed J. Weckesser).
First collected edition, partly first edition. One of 64 deluxe réimposé copies on vergé d'Arches paper (no. 46).

The Cantate à trois voix had been published in 1912, under the title Cette heure qui est entre le printemps et l’été.

Copies of the regular printing (2,200 copies on vergé) were printed six days later, on May 16, 1914; the publication of this fifth title from the young Éditions de la Nouvelle Revue Française made Claudel the most published author since the founding of the “comptoir d’éditions” in 1911.

A fine copy, in an attractive and carefully executed contemporary half-binding, in perfect condition. From the library of Jean E. Leclercq (bookplate).
