The Paduan man of letters Giovanni Antonio Volpi (1686–1766) taught philosophy, then Greek and Latin literature, at the University of his native city. From 1717 to 1756, he partnered with Giuseppe Comino to run a printing workshop whose productions rank among the most sought-after Italian printed books of the eighteenth century, prized both for their elegance and for the philological care with which the editions were established. It should be noted that printing on colored paper was one of this press's specialties.
