For his personal library, Maurice Genevoix turned to a local bookbinder named Carrey, who bound a copy of each of his books in a broadly consistent style: half bindings in morocco or blue morocco, generally with corners, and spines more or less elaborately decorated.
Raboliot was printed on four papers: 7 copies on China paper, 13 on Japanese paper, 56 on Hollande and 162 on pur fil paper. It was this pur fil copy that Genevoix chose for his “bound library of his own works”; he entrusted the Japanese-paper copy to Grégoire Levitzky, to house the official letter from the Académie Goncourt announcing that he had been awarded the prize.
