Projet d’affiche pour les Jeux Olympiques 1924

This is the work of the painter-illustrator Xavier Josso. A former student of the École des Arts décoratifs, he became famous for the numerous sketches he brought back from the front during the First World War. He later specialized in illustrations of Brittany and designed several posters and advertisements for sporting events and brands.
This project for the 1924 Games does not appear to have been used, but another version is known, in a small 10 x 15 format, probably used for promotional postcards (Vente Sportissime, Paris, Kahn et Associées, November 2009, no. 106).
