Premier bilan de l’Exposition coloniale

This second tract responds – in a complex way – to the fire that had just occurred in the Netherlands Indies Pavilion of the Exposition coloniale. Delighted to see one of the key pieces of this “imperialist demonstration” fall, they nonetheless lamented the loss of the primitive art objects it contained, not only for their intrinsic value, but because, as subjects of anthropological study, for instance, they could indirectly serve movements struggling against colonialism. The tract is signed by the 12 Surrealists of the group and by 12 “signatures of foreign comrades,” mentioned without further detail.
