The insurance contract, registered under no. 47,258, took effect on December 5, 1932 for a term of 10 years — expiring on December 5, 1942! It was concluded between the insurance company “La Confiance” and Commandant Charles de Gaulle, residing at 110 boulevard Raspail — sum insured: 270,000 francs.
Remarkably, the contract contains a rider to the contract dated… September 28, 1939, twenty-five days after France’s official entry into the war against Nazi Germany. The property and effects described on panels 2 and 3 were thereafter covered…
