Unlike issue no. 1, which was printed in Auch, this second cahier (of four in total) came off the presses of Jacques Haumont in Paris. It contains the first appearance of the Lettre aux Français, four pages by Georges Bernanos that have remained unpublished since, as they do not even appear in the otherwise exhaustive Pléiade edition of Essais et écrits de combat.

Among the other contributions are Plus de conscience by Lestaque (pseudonym of Jean Cassou), with one of his Sonnets écrits au secret in a pre-original printing; a scathing piece on Jean Giono; a portrait in the same vein of Paul Morand by Antoine Guyon (pseudonym of Louis Martin-Chauffier); and a highly laudatory review of Exil by Saint-John Perse, signed R. (pseudonym of Maurice Noël). Finally, there is a “brève” by the same author (under his other pseudonym, Pierre Vauthier) recounting, with great irony, the visit to Spain of Horace de Carbuccia, director of Gringoire.
