Printed and completed on 4 January 1961, this booklet commemorates the first anniversary of Camus’s death. Fittingly, it presents a previously unpublished and highly interesting text, in which Camus answers the question: “Why did I make theater? I have often asked myself. The only answer I can give so far will doubtless seem discouragingly banal to you: quite simply because the theater is one of the places in the world where I am happy.”
