Rare commemorative medal of the 1924 Summer Olympic Games, held in Paris a century ago.
The medal, designed and signed by the engraver-medalist Raoul Bénard, depicts the goddess Nike, deity of victory and triumph, crowning the winners.
The sportswear brand Nike takes its name from the goddess, who is also depicted on the first FIFA World Cup trophy, named the “Jules Rimet Trophy” (won by Brazil in 1970, but stolen since). On the other side, a view of Notre-Dame with the title “VIIIe Olympiade. Paris 1924.”
These bronze medals were presented to members of the Games’ delegations.
