In 1950, after completing his literary studies, Jacques Lacarrière traveled through Europe, the Middle East and Greece. He went on to publish numerous works on Mount Athos, the Desert Fathers and Greece, and translated Greek poets and writers, including the Nobel laureate Georgios Seferis and Vassilis Vassilikos, author of Z.
Le Troisième Anneau (in modern Greek: Το τρίτο στεφάνι) is a novel by the Greek writer Kostas Taktsis (1927–1988). Taktsis wrote the novel while wandering outside Greece in the late 1950s and early 1960s. He submitted it to three publishing houses, all of which rejected it. The book was finally published in 1962 at the author’s own expense.
