A first illustrated edition, in folio format, had appeared in 1946, published by Arnold-Bordas, with 25 original drawings and a color frontispiece by Marc Chagall.
A new, smaller edition was issued four years later, on the occasion of the English translation of the text, dedicated to Chagall. This copy is complete with the printed glassine wrapper and the color plate by Marc Chagall, reproduced by Daniel Jacomet. Being loose, this plate is often missing.
A fine copy, uncommon with an inscription.
