La Jeune Fille verte

Paris, Émile-Paul Frères, (May) 1919.
1 vol. (130 x 200 mm) of 316 p., [1] and 1 f. In wrappers, chemise and slipcase.
First edition.

One of the first 100 copies on Hollande paper (no. 29), the only paper announced — though 50 copies on green paper also exist.

Accompanied by the pre-original edition and first version of the text, published in Les Écrits nouveaux in six installments: these have been bound at the time in half green morocco, with their wrappers preserved.

Toulet’s last published novel. He lived to see the volume printed but not put on sale, since he died in Guéthary on 6 September 1919, before the book — whose spine bears the date 1920 — was issued for sale.

A fine gathering of both versions, forming a most complete assemblage of the text.
