In addition to a simplified account of the special and general theories of relativity, Mein Weltbild brings together articles and lectures written in Einstein’s maturity, addressing the rise of Nazism, pacifism, Zionism and science. They set out Einstein’s views, but above all his unflinching opposition to the emerging Nazi regime: “It is one of the strengths of some of these texts: reading them, one sometimes feels they were written after the Second World War, when in fact they precede it. Einstein was also a visionary.” (Étienne Klein, physicist at the CEA, in Le Monde, 2009).
This French edition followed the German original by only a few weeks and is the first translation of the text, the first American edition not appearing until 1949.
