A striking graphic realization of Apollinaire’s famous poem “Chantre.” This poem, which appeared in Alcools in 1913, consists of a single line. This monostich — for that is what it must be called — long intrigued readers, scholars and critics of every stripe: not only is the poem’s brevity intriguing, but the line itself remains mysterious. It is nonetheless beautiful:
“et l’unique cordeau des trompettes marines.”
