Alongside his major project, Dernier royaume, now numbering twelve volumes, Pascal Quignard regularly publishes freestanding works. La vie n’est pas une biographie is one of these, exploring the dreamlike dimension of existence and allowing the author to reject, in countless ways, the very idea of biography — “a construction that is always retrospective, from which everything escapes of what the Romans called the vera vita viva, the true living life,” which is precisely what Quignard seeks to bear witness to here, echoing a quotation from T. S. Eliot: “We had the experience but missed the meaning.”
Fine condition.
