A brief, wakeful novel, Souvenirs dormants takes up once again the thread of elusive identities and half-lit encounters, in which an adult narrator — one might as well say Modiano himself — attempts, decades later, to retrace several young women glimpsed in the Paris of the 1960s and 1970s. Their intermittent presence — uncertain names, blurred addresses, silhouettes in the half-light — seems to revive an anxious youth and bring a measure of order to a fragmentary memory.
Fine, near-new condition. Rare with an inscription.
