A tart yet tender Montmartre novel, Les Linottes captures the petty bohemian world and its inconsistencies (Robert Cozal, Marthe Hamiet…) with the instant-snapshot art so dear to Courteline. The texts first appeared serialized before being collected by Flammarion in 1912, and were later adapted for the musical stage in the 1920s.
