A manifesto-book in which Barrault, at the end of the Occupation and at the height of the Marigny seasons, sets out his conception of a total theater combining acting, mime, music and stage design: a poetics of the actor-dancer inherited from Dullin and Decroux that would become the signature of the Compagnie Renaud-Barrault. A key critical landmark of the postwar period.
