René Char made numerous corrections and variants to these texts, which he entered in a copy of the 1945 edition before entrusting it to José Corti for this third edition, issued in early 1954.
The author’s own copy, with final corrections and variants in the poet’s hand, in pencil: these corrections were indeed incorporated into the definitive version of Le Marteau sans maître, published in 1963.
