Shakespeare Never Did This recounts Bukowski’s travels to Hamburg, Mannheim, Heidelberg and Paris. It was not translated into French until 2012: a road book that remained curiously unpublished in France for far too long, in which Bukowski gives his own account of the famous “Apostrophes episode” with Bernard Pivot.
Michael Montfort, a German journalist and photographer, met Bukowski in 1977 while working on a story for a German magazine. He would go on to photograph him repeatedly and accompanied him on each of his trips to Europe.
A very fine copy.
