Habitude de la poésie

All these texts are first editions, with the exception of the Georges Hugnet piece, a preface first published five years earlier for L’Apocalypse de S.W. Hayter (ed. Jeanne Bucher). As for the first (unnumbered) fascicle of this series, Paul Éluard’s L’Évidence poétique, it reproduces the text of a lecture given in 1936 at the Surrealist Exhibition in London, organized by Roland Penrose.

This series is often found recomposed by the publisher into two volumes of six fascicles each: these are reprints, in red and/or cream wrappers, bearing a table of contents. Two titles are not included in these, those of Hugnet and Michaux, which can only be found in the first-printing series. Each title is printed on a different colored paper.
