Notice sur Pierre Dupont

Preface written by Baudelaire for the twentieth installment of Chants et chansons de Pierre Dupont, workers’ hymns and revolutionary pastorals from 1848. Baudelaire celebrates “this poet who places himself in permanent communication with the men of his time.”

All wrappers, regardless of the printing, were printed by Martinet, with his name appearing on the back cover. All bear the medallion engraving designed by T. Johannot and engraved on wood by Pisan, and the installment was distributed by various booksellers (Martinet, Dutertre, Lécrivain).

Wrappers complete with the label “20e livraison. Portrait et Notice” pasted in the cartouche.
