Paul Éluard

[L'Isle sur Sorgue], Chez l'auteur, (summer) 1933.
1 folded leaf (210 x 265 mm) on canson paper with the “J Perrig” watermark.
First edition. Rare pamphlet printed in 100 copies.

The poet’s tribute to his alter ego in poetry.

It was written in the summer of 1932, when Char, together with Éluard and Nusch, stayed in Cadaqués with Dalí and Gala. This long poem in honor of his friend — the two men had met four years earlier — was later included in Recherche de la base et du sommet in 1955.

After Ralentir travaux, written with André Breton in 1930, Char would sign two further books with Éluard: Rêves d’encre (Corti, 1945) and Deux poèmes (Jean Hugues, 1960).
