Flush, who is Flush? A cocker spaniel who lived in the previous century and had the privilege of accompanying the poet Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning through their romantic and sentimental wanderings. A portrait of the artist as a young dog, in a sense. For Flush may also have been a barely disguised image of Virginia Woolf herself, an oblique and mischievous way for her to evoke her own malaise despite the richness of her perceptions and her sometimes inability to express them.
An incredible copy in as-new condition, unopened, uncut: literally as issued.
