Leurs enfants après eux
Paris, Actes Sud, (May) 2018.
1 vol. (140 x 200 mm) of 425 p. In wrappers, dust jacket illustrated with the photograph, half black morocco slipcase-chemise, smooth spine, gilt title.
First edition, first printing (no deluxe-paper copies).
An exceptional and historic copy, bearing the signatures and autograph notes of the members of the Académie Goncourt, gathered “on the spot” and inscribed just minutes after the winner was announced, together with an autograph note signed by Nicolas Mathieu, written moments after he sat down at the table at Drouant for the traditional lunch held after the announcement of the winner, “tellement stupéfait” [so stunned] by this award. This is, of course, the very first inscription by the 2019 Prix Goncourt laureate in the work awarded the prize that day!
The copy is enriched with proof no. 3 of the original print of Alexa Brunet's photograph, which was used to create the book's dust jacket. It is justified and signed on the verso by the photographer.
