In 1986, Alain Decaux produced, for Antenne 2, a “Dossier d’Alain Decaux” devoted to Radiguet’s novel: a 90-minute program, which he naturally presented himself, interspersed with archival footage, in which — with his innate and inimitable gift for narrative — he examined the circumstances surrounding the novel’s creation and the reactions it provoked in French society.
The book’s publication, in early May 1923, was indeed a landmark event: it was accompanied by a genuine publicity campaign, with posters, flyers and even a cinema advertisement orchestrated by Bernard Grasset. On 15 May 1923, it received official recognition with the Prix du Nouveau Monde.
A fine set, in a matching slipcase.
