One of the earliest productions of Au Sans Pareil, which, together with books by Paul Morand and Blaise Cendrars, attempted to move away from the emerging Surrealist movement. René Hilsum’s wish for literary openness was not matched by commercial success, and Le Laboratoire central met with only modest results in bookshops. This prompted its author to remark: “Le Laboratoire is not having much success, and the expressions of sympathy for this death of my poetry are a pleasure to me.”
