A very rare first English edition of Les Trophées, printed in 500 copies.
The author’s only collection, Les Trophées, published in 1893, comprises 118 sonnets tracing the history of the world, including Les Conquérants, which gives its title to this English edition, published in the highly Hispanic California of 1896.
It was published by William Doxey, editor of the review The Lark, which contributed greatly to the literary renaissance of the 1890s in the San Francisco area.
