The bibliophile Lucien Graux, a great admirer of France, published this edition from the manuscript in his own collection (cat. VIII, no. 126, December 1958). This lecture, delivered by Anatole France in Rio de Janeiro on 30 June 1909, appeared in The English Review and then in la Revue de Paris before this first edition in book form, produced under the care of Lucien-Graux.
