Biographie d’André Breton, poète

Nice, Matarasso, (December) 1983.
1 vol. (200 x 145 mm) of 1 frontispiece, 9 p. and [3] f., 2 engravings and 1 color photographic print. Bradel-style binding in green morocco, gilt title along the spine, gray velvet doublures and endleaves, edges gilt on the rough, original wrappers preserved, matching edged slipcase (binding signed Goy & Vilaine, titling by Claude Ribal, 2023).
First edition. Illustrated with an original copper engraving by Baltazar, entitled “portrait imaginaire.”

One of the first 30 copies with the double suite of the engraving, one of which is heightened with watercolor and colored pencil, signed by the author and the artist (no. 8).

The entire print run was printed on Arches paper, in 100 copies.

This copy is enriched with a photographic print by the author “in which André Breton does not appear (he is feeding a cow).”

A very fine copy.
