[Paris, Studio Harcourt, 1st semester 1947].
1 contemporary silver print (180 x 240 mm).
Charles de Gaulle, standing, arms crossed, during a photo shoot at 49 avenue d’Iéna, in the studios of Studio Harcourt.
We apologize for the imperfect translation generated by Deepl for the purposes of the show.
Unpublished print, not selected for General de Gaulle’s official iconography.
In 2022, Studio Harcourt discovered in its archives a portrait of General de Gaulle dating from 1947, in which the general is posing solemnly in uniform in the famous Parisian studio on Avenue d’Iéna. This led to the idea of doing more research to find the faces of the companions of the Liberation: 109 portraits were found, giving rise to an exhibition currently on display until June 2025 at the Musée de l’Ordre de la Libération.
Rare contemporary silver print, without the Harcourt signature: several poses were taken that day, and this one, unpublished, is probably an unused print, probably printed in a few copies, without a signature. The two official and labeled poses show the general, either full length, with his arms against his body, or in a pose, as here, with his arms crossed, but cropped to the torso, facing forward, and a less stern face.
Very nice print.
